Motolombia had some great new bikes. I rented the Yamaha XT650. It ran like a top and was very sturdey with low kilometers on it. Most Bike rental places have crappy run down bikes. It was expensive but worth it.

Motolombia is the ONLY way to go for either a bike rental or tour in Colombia. They started the business and have it almost perfected.

I am not a group rider, more of a go where I feel like riding today type. So I can't help you with the tours, but I have rented 4 times from them and they are the best. I have researched almost every other rental place in Colombia (and there are only a handful) and Motocolombia always comes out on top.

My biggest concern is always bike liability, meaning if some idiot crashes into me and I total the bike, what am I liable for? BUY the additional insurance. NONE of your credit cards will cover a motorcycle in a foreign country. ALL other rental places will hold you totally responsible for the cost of replacing the bike.

That said I have ridden the United States, Europe, Thailand, Vietnam, Costa Rica and the list goes on. Colombia is one of those places that is just GREAT. The roads, the scenery, the people, and the list goes on. I have ridden for 45 plus years and Colombia is my go to place now.

Do not believe the hype how dangerous the country is. Of course, you MUST know your surroundings and plan your places, but unless you ride into the poorer areas of the bigger cities, you are as safe as most other places in the world. Just use common sense.

Of course with any out of country adventure, there are always hiccups. But Motolombia has always worked WITH me and not against me in resolving conflicts.

ANY group that is considering going should. ANY individual thinking of going...just do it. I speak almost no Spanish and did just fine. It's always a challenge, especially ordering food, but that is half the fun.

IF anyone has any questions about going solo send me an email. I will help you as much as I can. I am hoping to return for probably my last ride Dec. 2017, so I would be happy to hook up with an individual for some rides. Email me. ( @usa.com" target="_blank">tetz@usa.com)

Last, a special thanks for ZOE of Motolombia for all her personal help.

Our Motolumbia tour was one of my favorite trips of all time. From the initial inquiries through booking, Mike and the staff were very helpful in answering our questions and addressing our concerns as newer riders and they never missed a beat in prompt responses. Once we finally arrived for the trip, I couldn't believe how well organized the tour was. Every stop was carefully thought out and something unexpected and interesting. Mike was a great guide - fun to be around and so knowledgeable. The rest of the staff was an amazing help with logistics and help with the bikes as we needed it. I would definitely recommend a trip like this. Colombia is beautiful and riding motorcycles through the country is the perfect way to see it. We couldn't have been in better hands! Thank you!
